It’s almost not worth noting since these articles seem to come out every week. This time, it’s the Detroit Free Press that’s trying to link bait moms who blog by posting a piece about the dark side of the blogosphere.
Did you know we’ve got cliques? And nasty commenters?
The truth is none of this is unique to the women’s space.
Apparently these journalists have yet to be formally introduced to the Internet. Or 4chan.
Yes, there are mean girls. And yes, there are angry mobs.
But there are also close friendships and uplifting stories and puppydog rainbows, if that’s what you’re looking for.
We found it odd that so much of the article quoted Michele McBee, also known as Chicken Liver, of the defunct PoopOnPeeps.com.
First of all, she closed her blog nearly a month ago. And secondly, she’s not a credible commentator because she routinely went beyond the boundaries of common decency. She didn’t engage in thoughtful conversation or debate – she attacked individuals and tried to disparage their reputation in the community while questioning their ability to be good parents.
Her favorite target (no surprise) was Dooce, as well as other top bloggers including Melissa Summers of SuburbanBliss.net who was also featured in the article.
Our take? The entire piece was a predictable snoozefest. The catchiest part was the title.
Much ado about nothing.
