Coupon bloggers just got a new – and very famous – neighbor in their section of the blogosphere. Reality star Kate Gosselin, the mother of eight who was both applauded and derided for bringing her family life to millions each week, will be a regularly contributing coupon blogger for CouponCabin.com. Jobless after her most recent reality show “Kate Plus 8” was canceled as of September 12th, Kate is probably relieved to be employed once again and should be appreciating coupons more than ever. While the move may surprise some, it’s also a way for Gosselin to get back to her roots.
CouponCabin.com is known as a leading online source for coupons including online coupon codes, printables and grocery coupons. While Kate may have her critics, she also has a loyal group of followers that should make it easier for her to quickly grow a following on the blog. Coupon Cabin knows this and should benefit from her celebrity status. Many may wonder what Kate knows about coupons and why anyone would take money-saving advice from a woman who once reportedly spent $7,000 on a new hair style but Jackie Warrick, president of Coupon Cabin, explains in the press release “Kate has embraced coupons her entire life.”
When Kate’s first reality show, “Jon and Kate Plus 8”, started in 2007, she could be seen regularly scrounging up coupons before shopping trips just as any regular Mom with that many children would. The show changed, as did Kate, over the years, but she says in the recent press release that “No matter what your financial situation is, there’s no reason not to use coupons. It’s like free money in your pocket!” Gosselin will be posting on topics such as “how to stretch a budget for a large family, holiday shopping tips, gift ideas and more.”
Kate does have a clear head start in the social media world with her name recognition, current site KatePlusMy8 and following on Twitter. Since confirming her role with Coupon Cabin in a Nov. 2 tweet, Gosselin is expected to take the throne as coupon queen on Nov. 22nd with some tips for holiday shopping and Black Friday.
