Mom 2.0 Summit Caps Weekend with Big Announcements

Mom 2.0 Summit concluded the closing keynote this weekend with some announcements that mark a significant expansion of the conference’s involvement in the social media community.  Founders Laura Mayes and Carrie Pacini shared that the successful partnership would now include a charitable arm called Mom2Cares, dedicated to providing assistance to a variety of charitable organizations.  In addition, Mom 2.0 will also be establishing writing grants created specifically for moms.  Laura  Mayes describes the inspiration behind the writing grants:

"We’re really excited about the Mom 2.0 Writers Grant. The idea came from watching a good friend search for a grant to help with a few hours of childcare each week so she could carve out some time to write. She looked everywhere for a writers grant dedicated to moms, and she couldn’t find one anywhere. I brought this up to the Mom 2.0 team, and we thought, hey, we can start one! So we did."

They also announced the launch of the first conference geared specifically towards dads in social media . . . aptly named Dad 2.0.  Described as “an annual conference where parents and media connect about the changing perceptions and online voice of modern fatherhood”, Dad 2.0 will take place in March of 2012.

Last  but not least, the conference announced it’s location for 2012, which elicited enthusiastic cheers from attendees.  We won’t spoil the surprise – you can watch the announcement below.

Thanks for the update, both conferences sound great. I loooove the idea of a writer’s grant, I could use that and may well apply depending on the required qualifications. One problem though – where’s the “announcement below?” I can’t see it! Am I missing something obvious?
