The Spanish-language TV network V-me is sponsoring a group of seven Latina bloggers for BlogHer ’10.
“This is the first time any media company is sponsoring a group of bloggers at a major blog conference, let alone a group that is culture-specific,” said Melanie from Modern Mami.
It’s taken female bloggers of color longer to get recognized and the surge to reach the Latina market is still in its infancy despite the fact that there are now 30 million US Hispanic users online. The past few months have demonstrated there’s a growing movement to develop relationships with bilingual bloggers with two recent examples being the QuéRicaVida launch and the upcoming Social Fiesta party at BlogHer ’10.
In a recent post on modernmami.com, Carrie Ferguson Weir of Tiki Tiki Blog said, “Latina brand ambassadors are a smart investment in reaching a powerful market that speaks in two dominant languages and thrives in two cultures.”
There will never be a ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to connecting with bloggers. Across all segments and even within niche subcategories there’s a lot of diversity, as is demonstrated by the list of V-me ambassadors.

So great of you to share this with your community. We’re all very excited and hope this leads to many more successful partnerships between brands and Latina bloggers.
So happy to be sponsored by V-me and ready to help open doors for all the other Latina bloggers out there!
That is so spectacular, I can’t wait to see where it heads! Melanie, my Blissdom roomie, I’m thrilled for you.
I have to give props to Lifetime though, and say that they’ve sponsored quite a few conference learning experiences this year for their LT Moms group. (myself included)- just wanted to give them a shoutout and say, It Helps! And I think it brings a higher level offeedback and knowledge to them through us. It’s a win-win, which I KNOW you will deliver to V-Me. Wooooot!
