A small group of mom bloggers was wined, dined, and photographed courtesy of Sony Electronics during the days leading up to the BlogHer conference in San Diego earlier this month. Organized by video mom Kimberley Clayton Blaine, the event, dubbed “Moms, Photos and Fun,” introduced the Sony Cyber Shot X9 to the group and aimed to make each participant feel special and heard. “I’m hoping to engage moms more with the Sony experience – which is very hands on and experiential,” says Blaine. “Their video cameras and digital cameras are pretty stellar.”
Guests of Sony stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, and enjoyed cocktails, dinners, and the gift of a new camera, for which they received instruction and a lot of opportunity for experimentation.
…which is this great, 16.2 megapixel, fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand camera that can take really great pictures under many different lighting conditions. Perfect for Moms on the go, like me!
Blaine was pleased with the response. “I loved that the moms were so interested in the capabilities of camera,” she says. “The entire day was spent practicing using the Cyber-Shot all over San Diego Marina. Heather Flett of RookieMoms.com is 9 months pregnant and was clearly our favorite subject to photograph!”
Britt Michaelian was sold on the Sony experience. “There was never a moment where we were without great conversation, pampering or delicious food and drink,” she writes in her recap post on Work Smart Lifestyle. “From chocolate covered strawberries and champagne to finger sandwiches and scones, the food spread was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!”
But the decadence did not end with food and drink. The guests were treated to some serious pampering including massages, manicures and pedicures, professional hair and makeup treatments, and more. All this in preparation for their individual photo shoots with professional photographer and tutor for the day, Brian Smith, who had also led the women on a photo walking tour of the area that day.
For its team’s efforts, Sony Electronics now has several pledges live on blogs that look much like this summary from Michaelian:
Now, please know that from this moment on… every photo on my blog will be captured with a SONY camera because they not only how to make great products, they know how to create raving fans!
