Anna Lefler is a funny lady. Author of the popular humor blog Life Just Keeps Getting Weirder, Lefler has been known to ponder what a Jedi smells like and wax philosophical about why more men don’t wear urban sport kilts. In addition to her blog, Lefler brings the funny as a stand-up comedian, and her work has appeared online at humor sites like McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Big Jewel, Funny not Slutty, and My Pheme. Her latest book is entitled The Chicktionary: From A-line to Z-snap, the words every woman should know. The book is a humorous look at the lingo every woman should know. For example:
Mom Jeans, noun
Catchall, derogatory term for unstylish, unflattering jeans that appear to place a higher value on utilitarian comfort than on fashion. Typically high-waisted (see also: high-waisted jeans) and/or baggy (but not in a good way), so-called mom jeans exist in a category all their own and are not linked to any particular style moment when they were sold in stores. Instead they seem to have appeared spontaneously in the back of a closet where they emerged, like the walking catfish, as a hiccup in denim’s evolutionary chain. Fun fact: no one knows exactly how our nation’s mothers got smeared with responsibility for this fashion offense, but as soon as the guilty parties are identified, you can bet they are going to be on one hell of a timeout.

Anna said of the experience, “The CHICKtionary was such fun to write. Not only do I find pop-culture terms fascinating, but I enjoyed turning the common – and often annoying – experiences of contemporary womanhood into humorous definitions that will hopefully make women laugh with recognition and men chuckle with understanding.”
Lefler has made good use of YouTube in promoting the book – you can check out her new trailer below.

I adore Anna Lefler. So excited to receive my copy of Chicktionary and start using the correct terms for all things female.
Thanks so much for the support, ShePosts! (And Kristen, you could *totally* pull off leather pants. I’m just sayin’.)
I ordered mine.
And I’m already regretting not ordering more…
