Melissa Angert and Jo-Lynne Shane of the new blog All Things Chic
Remember that feature in InStyle Magazine in which a hot runway look gets broken down and they suggest what you, a mere mortal, can buy and wear to look just like that? Yeah, it’s kind of like that, but on the internet, and run by two mom bloggers.
Jo-Lynne Shane of Musings of a Housewife and Melissa Angert of Girly Mama each had their own separate fashion blogs, and joined them together to create All Things Chic. The site aims to “translate the looks you see in the magazines into accessible style for real life and bring you the most stylish products for your home and family.”
The founders have assembled a staff of blogging contributors who represent a range of different life stages and experiences. They cover not only fashion, but also home, gadgets, and technology. With such an expanded staff, the site is updated multiple times a day with features, reviews, and giveaways. Just like a magazine, but reads like a blog.
A refreshing aspect of All Things Chic is that a teeny kernel of a sense of humor pokes through the earnest beauty talk. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page to the copyright and you’ll see it. They also freely admit to shopping at Target, and there is a cute feature called What I Wore Wednesday in which the contributors show you, for real, what they wore.
Shane is happy with how All Things Chic has done so far, and is optimistic about the site’s possibilities:
We have over 500 subscribers and Facebook fans, we have some great sponsors and giveaways lined up. Plans are to continue to pump out fabulous content, and we are also working on an event with Laura Mercier and Neiman Marcus!!
